Aug 04, 2023Aug 04, 2023

The Antioch Police Department announced the arrest of a 20-year-old female after driving the wrong-way while possibly being under the influence when she struck an ATV rider who died at the scene.

On July 8th, 2023, at about 9:27 PM, The Antioch Police Department Communications Center received calls of a two-vehicle head on collision in the area of Deer Valley Road and Wildflower Drive. Officers determined a vehicle driven by 20-year-old Tatiana Bartlow drove the wrong way, northbound in the southbound lane of Deer Valley Road where she collided head on with a quad ATV driven by 51-year-old Jerry Hill.

The impact caused Hill to be ejected from the ATV. Hill succumbed on scene to his injuries. A 20-year-old female passenger in Bartlow’s vehicle sustain a head injury and was transported to an area hospital for treatment.

Bartlow left the scene with two other passengers from vehicle and was followed by witnesses who got the attention of arriving officers. Officers detained Bartlow and the two passengers a short distance away and was later transported to The Antioch Police Station. Alcohol is a suspected factor in this collision and Bartlow was arrested and sent to county jail.

Antioch Police Department Major Accident Investigation Team assumed control of the investigation.

This investigation is ongoing, and we ask anyone with information to contact Sergeant Rob Green at 925-779-6864 or [email protected] . You may also text an anonymous tip to 274637 (CRIMES) using the keyword ANTIOCH.

Two for the price of one…..the DUI should suffer the dame fate as her victim. The victim, however, should’ve known better than to be rising an ATV on the city streets, especially at night

Watch, she will get a slap on the wrist. She will not serve more then a few days total in jail.

Maybe da mayor will give her the name of his lawyer, the one that got him off easy, just saying.

Imagine having so little humanity for the life taken and passenger injured by your irresponsible actions that your response is to flee the scene. Clearly the driver has no morals and hasn’t learned anything about accountability. The other passengers are no different so it leads me to believe that birds of a feather flock together. It’s stories like this that cause me to get home before dark and stay put until it’s light out. There are too many entitled, irresponsible, drinking, drugging, speeding fools among us to feel comfortable doing otherwise.

She is a child who was scared. No shouldn’t have been drinking but she made a mistake. People are so quick to judge.

No she’s an adult in every sense of the word. An adult who made the choice to drink, the choice to get drunk, the choice to drive drunk, the choice to flee the scene of an accident she caused. Every action she took involved making a choice and therefore is not a mistake.

She’s 20, not a child. Nobody forced her to drive, not a mistake.–It’s 2023, with Uber and Lyft, never a reason to drive drunk. Coddling people doesnt work, neither does making excuses for stupidity.

I understand she was scared, anyone in that situation would be. But, she is not a child. She left the scene of an accident, THAT’S A FELONY compounded by the fact that there was a fatality. She made the choice to drink knowing she is underage, she made the choice to drive drunk. Life is about choices and everyone MUST TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR MAKING POOR CHOICES, PERIOD! I’m sorry but she needs to pay the price for what she did. She must be charged as an adult and the DA must push for the maximum sentence. Our streets are unsafe as it is and we don’t need to send the wrong message that it’s ok to break the law and get away with it. Just one guy’s opinion.

Stop making excuses for bad behavior! This is why young adults, and she IS an adult not a “child”, have no humanity or respect for others for that matter. This attitude of making excuses for grown adults has to stop. Yes we all made mistakes when we were young but our age was no excuse for those mistakes. This woman decided as an ADULT to get drunk and then decided as an ADULT to drive and because of those decisions a man is dead!

A Mistake! she took my nephew life! A child, What you smoking ? At 18 yrs old ,in Calif your considered an adult! “Choices” Everyday we wake, “God” gives a chance and a choice! A choice to make the right decisions and a choice to carry it out. Bad decision and bad choice here made by four individuals, With one totally intoxicated, three other in the car, not one had sense enough to park the car and sleep it off, call a Uber or call friend or parents for sober ride. That’s what a so called child did and didn’t do! They now ruined their lives ,along with an intire family!

So sorry for the loss off life Yesterday on G st a white truck Drove recklessly in the wrong lane to pass us illegally thank God there was no on coming cars in the lane the person used to pass us illegally then Drive continuous all over both lanes mind you single lane either Direction Then They turn down Fitzuren Road not only in Antioch but on Buchanan in Pittsburg with 2 other vehicles 🚗 as well what the Hell is wrong with people!

@Tiffany Banks…a child? She’s a grown adult who made her choice. And her poor choice resulted in the death of someone.

My family is very distraught. Regardless if it was night or day my family member lost his life. A mother has lost her first born SON.

My condolences 💐 to the family! I was there I saw and felt the Hurt! Keeping y’all in my prayers!

Thank you to those followed the drunken losers who tried to flee and helped the APD arrest them.

Her F><×#/ up action & decision jus totally caused my family unspeakable pain I'll never receive a hug nor anything from my big cousin & let's not even speak on what my poor aunt will endure for the rest of her life young & made a mistake my @$$

There’s plenty of responsibility to go around. It should not be overlooked that the ATV driver was operating a vehicle that is specifically designed for off road use, on the street. I hope people that do this are paying attention and if they didn’t know, they should know that not only is it extremely dangerous, but also against the law to drive these vehicles on surface streets or highways.

My thought exactly. The automobile driver is an adult and needs to answer for her actions as such. But what was a 50-year doing driving an ATV on a public street? TWO very bad decisions led to tragedy here.

Exactly!

Exactly!
